Featured in the hardcover publications of “Better Homes and Gardens,” “Santa Claus,” “Inland NW Homes & Lifestyles,” as well as other local publications, newspapers, and in 2018, in a feature of KSPS-TV, Elizabeth Raol’s “Old World Father Christmas” figures are definitely her passion. Because no molds are used, each one-of-a-kind figure is individually sculpted and designed and each is signed and numbered. Ranging in height from 12″ to 5’7″, they take on a personality uniquely their own.
While most reflect a European look in their attire, some appear more whimsical or “woodsy.” Elizabeth particularly enjoys designing and sewing their attire. It is her goal that their realistic look be gentle and kindly. Elizabeth’s husband, Pradyumansinh, is a great supporter, helping in constructing the armatures, skis with poles, and other accessories that accompany some of the figures. She enjoys being able to incorporate “Grandma’s” fur coat or “Grandpa’s” tie into special commission pieces, hoping that each will become heirlooms to be enjoyed for many years. Old World Father Christmases are currently offered in gift shops in both Vail, Colorado and New York.
